This means you get the prestige of a top university from day one.
Upon successfully completing your pathway program at TPC, you have guaranteed progression into a UT degree – no additional admissions hurdles . In other words, finish your TPC foundation year and you’re automatically accepted into your bachelor’s or master’s at UT!
This promise offers peace of mind to students and parents, ensuring your hard work at TPC directly leads to the University of Twente’s English-taught, top-rated degree programs .
Diverse Foundation and Master’s Pathway Programs to Match Your Goals
Twente Pathway College offers a variety of academic pathways designed for different fields of interest, so you can find the perfect fit for your future studies . Whether you’re passionate about engineering or business (or something in between), TPC has you covered with two foundation year tracks and even a pre-master’s program:
• Foundation in Engineering and Technology:
A one-year International Foundation Year in Science & Mathematics that prepares you for UT’s English-taught Bachelor’s programs in Engineering and Technology. This pathway is ideal if you dream of degrees like Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other technical fields.
In fact, successful completion can lead to first-year entry into UT majors such as Advanced Technology, Applied Mathematics, Chemical Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Computer Science, and more . You’ll build a solid base in math, physics, and even get to choose a specialization (e.g. a chemistry module for those aiming at chemical engineering) during the foundation year .
• Foundation in Business, Management and Social Sciences:
A one-year foundation program that sets you up for UT’s acclaimed bachelor’s degrees in the social sciences and business domain. If you’re interested in global business or societal challenges, this pathway opens doors to UT programs like BSc International Business Administration, BSc Management, Society & Technology, or BSc Communication Science .
You’ll take core modules in economics or social studies depending on your interest, ensuring you’re ready to jump into these fields. After finishing this foundation, you’ll enter UT and study topics like innovation in business or addressing real-world social issues, alongside an international cohort .
• Master Qualifying Programme (MQP):
Planning to pursue a Master’s at UT but need extra preparation? TPC also offers MQP tracks for graduate aspirants. For example, there are MQP specializations in Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable Energy Technology, Electrical Engineering, and Business Administration.
In one year at TPC, you’ll strengthen your subject knowledge, research skills, and English, then progress into the corresponding UT master’s program with confidence. This is a fantastic option if you’re coming from abroad and want to adjust to the Dutch academic system before starting a rigorous MSc program.
All TPC pathways are fully aligned with the University of Twente’s curriculum and philosophy . The coursework, projects, and skills you learn at TPC are designed in coordination with UT, so you’ll feel fully prepared to tackle your degree upon progression.
Innovative Teaching and Personalized Support Every Step of the Way
One of the biggest advantages of Twente Pathway College is its supportive learning environment. Classes at TPC are intentionally kept small, so you’ll never feel like just a number.
In fact, TPC prides itself on a “strengths-based atmosphere” with small class sizes and lots of opportunities for leadership and skills development . The teachers and support staff are highly experienced in working with international students, so they understand the challenges you might face and know how to help you thrive academically and personally.
Learning at TPC is interactive and hands-on. You won’t be stuck in a lecture hall just taking notes. The college uses a mix of lectures, seminars, and project-based group work to teach you effectively . Expect to work on team projects that tackle real, socially relevant problems, especially in the Engineering track where you might design solutions to practical engineering challenges .
Additionally, TPC places a big emphasis on developing you as a well-rounded learner. During your foundation year, you’ll focus on seven core characteristics that Dutch higher education values (things like critical thinking, initiative, and collaboration) . These traits will underpin your approach to learning and “stay with you for a lifetime” . It’s not just about academic knowledge – it’s about growing into an independent, resilient student.
And don’t worry if English isn’t your first language: the program is designed to boost your English proficiency and academic skills along the way . All communication and instruction at TPC is in English, so by the time you move on to the University, you’ll be fully comfortable studying in English and even writing academic papers in English.
Vibrant International Campus Life in a Dutch Student City
At Twente Pathway College, you won’t just study – you’ll also enjoy an amazing campus life! Since TPC is situated right on the University of Twente’s campus, you get to experience everything this lively university environment has to offer . The UT campus is often called an “all-in-one” campus, and for good reason: it’s like a mini city for students. You will be studying and living alongside thousands of other students from the Netherlands and all over the world, all in one place.
TPC students have access to all the benefits available to UT students, which is a fantastic perk . Want to join a club or society? There are over 100 student-run clubs and organizations you can join – whether you’re into sports, music, technology, or something quirky like a board games club, there’s a society for you . This is a great way to pursue your hobbies (or discover new ones) and meet friends who share your interests. You’ll also get a UT UnionCard, which gives you access to campus facilities like the library, swimming pool, gyms, sports fields, and even art and cultural facilities . Essentially, every resource that a full-time UT student can use is open to you as a TPC student, from modern science labs to cozy study spaces.
Beyond the campus, the surrounding city of Enschede is an awesome student city to live in. With around 31,000 students in the city, Enschede is youthful, lively, and very welcoming to students . There’s always something happening – whether it’s enjoying the cafés, bars, and restaurants, catching a film or a show at the theater, or participating in local festivals. Enschede manages to be both vibrant and safe as a city. It’s big enough to have all the amenities and entertainment you want, but small enough to navigate easily (most students bike everywhere!). If you’re coming from abroad, you’ll appreciate that the locals are friendly and almost everyone speaks English. It won’t take long to feel comfortable in Enschede’s community.
High-Quality Education at an Affordable Cost
Quality education is important, but so is affordability – and Twente Pathway College excels in providing great value for your money. Studying in the Netherlands is generally more cost-effective than studying in English-speaking countries like the UK or US, and you still get a high-quality, internationally recognized degree at the end . The Dutch education system is highly regarded worldwide, so think of it as getting a first-class education at a lower price tag . That’s a huge relief for many families concerned about tuition costs.
At TPC, tuition fees are straightforward and transparent. There’s one flat fee for the foundation year program, regardless of whether you are from the EU or outside the EU (no complicated international surcharges!). For the 2025 academic year, the Foundation in Engineering & Technology program costs €17,250, and the Foundation in Business, Management & Social Sciences costs €16,750 . This fee covers the full year of instruction (three terms) and all the support that comes with the program. Compared to doing an extra year elsewhere or jumping straight into a university unprepared, this is a smart investment in making sure you succeed in your degree later.
