Why Study in London with OnCampus London
Best Student City
OnCampus London is based at Birkbeck, University of London, situated in Bloomsbury, the historic academic neighborhood at the heart of London. Studying here means joining a diverse student community in a city that has been ranked the world’s best student city by QS in 2025.
London welcomes around 90,000 international students from over 200 countries, offering a truly multicultural environment where new friends from every corner of the globe can meet and learn from each other.
London is also one of the world’s financial capitals and home to many Fortune 500 companies. For students, this means access to countless opportunities for career exposure, internships, and part-time jobs. In fact, there are “countless opportunities for post-study work and part-time employment during your studies” in London – great news for those looking to build their resumes while studying. OnCampus London’s location and support give students a head start in networking with industries right on their doorstep.
University Campus and Facilities
Another big advantage of OnCampus London is that students study on an actual university campus. OnCampus London classes are taught at Birkbeck’s campus, and students have full access to the same facilities and services as Birkbeck degree students from day one. This means using Birkbeck’s extensive libraries, modern study spaces, labs, and even joining student clubs and societies via the Birkbeck Student Union.
Being an OnCampus student in London isn’t an isolated experience – you’ll be part of a larger university community in a vibrant city-center campus.
Academic Pathways and Entry Requirements
OnCampus London specializes in university preparation pathways that lead to undergraduate or postgraduate degrees at top UK universities. There are several course options to suit different academic levels. Here’s an overview of each program, along with key entry requirements (including IELTS scores and academic criteria):
Undergraduate Foundation Programme (UFP):
A two-semester foundation course for students who have completed high school and want to progress to the first year of a UK undergraduate degree. (An extended three-semester option is available for extra English language support.) The UFP offers pathways in Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, and more, with expert guidance to help students progress to top universities. Entry requirements: Completion of secondary education with good grades (country-specific requirements apply). IELTS needed is 4.5 (with no component below 4.5) for the standard 2-semester UFP, or 5.0 (with 5.0 in writing and no element below 4.5) if you plan to progress to a University of London college.
University of London International Foundation Programme (IFP):
A prestigious one-year foundation course developed by the University of London. OnCampus London is a Recognised Teaching Centre for this program, meaning students follow an academically rigorous syllabus set by the University of London. Upon successful completion, students are awarded the University of London International Foundation Certificate – a mark of excellence respected worldwide. The IFP is ideal for high-achieving students aiming for top universities (for example, it’s the required route for students who wish to apply to certain competitive law degrees at Queen Mary University of London). Entry requirements: Strong high school graduation grades. IELTS 5.5 is required (minimum 5.5 in writing, and no other sub-score below 5.0).
Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP):
A graduate-level preparation course for students who have completed an undergraduate degree and wish to pursue a Master’s degree in the UK. The PMP focuses on advanced academic skills, research methods, and subject knowledge to ensure students are ready for the rigors of a UK postgraduate program. Entry requirements: A recognized bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required to enroll. IELTS from 5.5 (with no skill below 5.5) is needed for the standard PMP. This program can be taken in 2 semesters, or in an extended 3-semester format (starting in June or September) for students who want additional English language support. Upon passing the PMP, students can progress to a range of UK universities for their master’s studies.
